For the making of Lunch Break, I worked closely on the different stages of hand carving sandstone, bronze casting and patination processes with the mentorship of Irish artists Jackie McKenna and Tim Morris.
We sourced the stone in Manorhamilton sandstone quarry and worked the body of the sculpture at Jackie’s studio in Leitrim met during a 2 week intensive introduction course at Leitrim Sculpture Centre.
The bronze legs wax moulds were prepared in Firestation Artists Studios and brought over to Tim Morris’ foundry in Mayo so we could work together on the making of the bronze casts all the way to brush on/heat patination technique.
